Sam Marion, MSW, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with experience in multiple clinical settings working with a diverse population. While I would say that I specialize in the treatment of attachment, trauma, and anxiety-related disorders, I enjoy working with a wide range of struggles that include autism, ADHD, grief, family conflict, and stress. My understanding of psychological trauma and emotional wounds allows me to help people feel safe in my office no matter what issue is most present for them.

My professional career started as a therapist in a women’s residential substance abuse treatment program. Over the next few years, I spent time managing that program, managing an inpatient trauma unit, and then running an admissions department of a behavioral health hospital. The higher I reached in hospital leadership, the more I realized that what I enjoyed most was working directly with clients. I moved back to a therapist position within the facility for a few months before launching my first private practice.

As a therapist in that practice, I had the opportunity to work with a true cross-section of society, and as the owner of the practice, I had the opportunity to set and maintain high standards of clinical work and keep ongoing professional development as a core value. As I saw success in that mission, I became grounded in my belief that clinical excellence is not only possible, it should be the standard.

My focus now is providing high quality psychotherapy to people out of my office in Buford, Ga. I have experience and advanced training in the treatment of psychological trauma with a range of populations. I have worked with adults, children, and even family systems that have gone through overwhelming experiences. Even when the bad thing only happens to one person in the system, I understand that each person is impacted in their own way.

I have a passion for helping people understand the impacts of trauma on the brain and body. This passion has led to me providing presentations and trainings on local, state, and national levels on topics such as traumatic stress, attachment, emotional regulation, and self-care. Audiences have included other clinicians, educators, first responders, and other helping professions.
